Wecomprisea team of more than 500 people ready to serve the needs of our residents to improve the efficiency and safety of San Jos streets.We are an energetic and innovative team that is improving transportationin one ofthe nations largest cities while focusing on safety sustainability and active public life!For more information about DOT visit Duties This position supervises PTCOs and Sr. PTCOs engaged in enforcement of vehicle and parking codes and regulations directing vehicular and pedestrian traffic traffic control patrolling assigned areas and towing vehicles. The Parking and Traffic Control Supervisoris responsible forthe management of the parking control program coordination of services and events and negotiation and oversight of contracts. RepresentingDOT in meetings with inside and outside stakeholders and plan and coordinate field work with outside vendors and contractors. Managing vendor contract and supervise staff. Leading a team to provide pavement construction support. Leading a team of vendor staff to support the Vehicle Abatement Program. May work assigned shifts 24 hours a day 7 days a week including holidays; may beto work overtime for assigned periods or for special events.
Additional responsibilities of the PTCO Supervisor may include but are not limited to:
Education:Completion of two (2) years of undergraduate coursework from an accredited college or university in business administration public administration law enforcement or related field
Experience:Four (4) years of experience requiring independent decisions and having considerable contact with thegeneral publicin parking control enforcement or asimilar regulatory function.
Certifications/Licenses:
Valid State of California drivers license.
Successful completion of a formal police background check
The ideal candidate willpossessthe following competencies asdemonstratedin past and current employment history.
Ability to manage vendor contract and supervise contract staff.
Knowledgeable in pavement construction support.
Knowledgeable in vehicle abatement policies laws and regulations.
Communication Skills:Effectively conveys information and expresses thoughts and facts clearly orally and in writing;demonstrateseffective use of listening skills and displays openness to other peoples ideas and thoughts.
