2025-2026 School YearJob DescriptionTitle:Assistant PrincipalReports To: PrincipalEvaluated By: PrincipalPosition Function/Job Purpose: This position is designed for the purpose of providing the leadership necessary to enhance the educational development of each student. Provides instructional leadership to staff including: curriculum planning review and implementation; professional development; the implementation of all school committee policies and the development of administrative systems and procedures which maximize the effectiveness of the school. The Assistant Principal is responsible for supporting the day-to-day building administration and the safety and welfare of both students and staff. Ensures a safe pleasant and effective educational atmosphere provides discipline as necessary and enforces school policy. QUALIFICATIONS:Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Principal/Assistant Principal by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education;Masters Degree in Education or a related field;Successful administrative experience in an education setting;Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and in conformity with state licensure requirements:Ability to communicate effectively with students staff and parents:Ability to set standards of performance coordinate and evaluate the activities of building personnel:Experience with curriculum including implementation and evaluation of curriculum and staff development programs: Demonstrated ability with developmentally appropriate programs interdisciplinary curriculum and integrated Special Education programs;Strong public relations skills and tangible evidence of ability to relate to pupils parents colleagues and the central office administration;Experience with developmentally appropriate social-emotional learning programs and/or curriculum; Knowledge of Special Education :Supervises teachers and departments as assigned by the principal;Supervises the preparation of student schedules and proposes class schedules and extracurricular activities;Works with faculty in compiling the annual budget requests;Requisitions supplies textbooks and equipment; conducts inventories; maintains records; and checks on receipts for such material;Assists in emergency planning and crisis response;Assumes responsibility for coordinating custodial cafeteria and other support services; Assists in maintaining discipline throughout the student body and supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance;Coordinates substitute teacher coverage as needed; Serves with parent faculty and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives;Supervises lunch and recess times at the school;Coordinates state testing processes;Supports the schools Special Education Program 504 plans ELL services and curriculum accommodation plans;Evaluates teachers in the school according to the states Educator Evaluation Standards and protocols and the terms of the Agreement Between the Boxford School Committee and the Boxford Educators Association;Participates in leadership meetings and such other meetings as are required or collaboratively with other district directors and members of the central administrative staff on district-wide planning and resolution of district-wide concerns;Keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings reading professional journals and other publications and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field;Promotes effective instructional practices for students and teachers including instruction for students and consultative services for teachers;Other duties as Environment: Be able to work in a close environmentBe able to work in moderately noisy environmentBe able to handle frequent interruptionsPhysical Requirements:Ability to lift 25 physically and emotionally capable of carrying-out responsibilities and duties in a busy computerized environment. This position requires hand/wrist movement as in writing or using a computer keyboard/mouse and moderate to frequent exertion in body movements such as reaching bending and requirements include the ability to read routine and complex documents and to use a computer.
