What You Need to Apply:
Option 1: Masters Degree in a mental health-related field from an accredited institution plus one year of experience in mental health
Option 2: Bachelors Degree in a mental health-related field from an accredited institution plus three years of mental health experience one of which is in a psychiatric setting
Option 3: Bachelors Degree in a mental health-related field plus two years of mental health experience (one in a crisis setting) and currently enrolled in a Masters program
Option 4: Registered professional nurse with three years of mental health experience one of which is in a crisis setting
Completion of NJDMHS Crisis Training Certification or eligibility to take the examination
Valid automobile drivers license with an MVR meeting agency standards
Ability to utilize technology to check/respond to email complete documentation and access client records
Position Overview:
As a Mental Health Screener for the ARRIVE Program you will provide emergency screenings evaluations and crisis interventions to individuals in Cumberland County who are experiencing psychiatric emergencies. Youll help stabilize clients in crisis assess the need for psychiatric hospitalization (voluntary or involuntary) and coordinate treatment planning and referrals.
What Does This Position Look Like
Mental Health Screeners in the ARRIVE Program respond to community and hospital-based crises. You will answer hotline calls to assist with phone referrals offer therapeutic interventions and determine when a face-to-face evaluation is required. Youll conduct psychiatric screenings develop alternative treatment plans when hospitalization is not appropriate and work collaboratively with ER physicians psychiatrists and other agencies to coordinate client care. Your role also includes mobile outreach to structured sites (e.g. police stations schools nursing homes) and unstructured locations (e.g. homes community settings with police support). Youll document all clinical contacts assist with transport coordination when necessary and consult with families and other care providers to support client safety and stability. As a vital member of the crisis team youll participate in trainings and staff development activities to stay informed and prepared.
