Middle Park High School
Description:
High school English teaching position 9-12 grades
Job Summary:
Middle Park High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate English teacher to join our team. This teacher willdevelop in each pupil skills of listening speaking reading and writing that are fundamental to good communications and literate citizenship; develop appreciation of good literature of all types;motivate pupils to read widely for information and recreation; develop standards for critical judgment of written and oral communications transmitted by mass media.
Responsibilities include developing lesson plans aligned to state standards; preparing and delivering lessons; creating and supervising activities for students; adapting instruction to meet individual learning needs; evaluating student performance; maintaining classroom records; meeting with and maintaining positive interpersonal relationships with students parents staff and community members; participating in campus events.
In addition a qualified candidate should
possessknowledge of current pedagogy related to the art of composition including the instruction of grammar usage and mechanics within the writing process
be familiar with and be comfortable using a broad range of texts both fiction and non-fiction historical and contemporary
create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
establish clear outcomes for all lessons class work and projects. The outcomes are communicated to students
support the program of study using a variety of instructional techniques instructional media and technology
serve as a model for the districts mission vision and goals
analyze and use appropriate data to guide instruction and develop assessments
Qualifications:
Appropriate Colorado teaching license. Effective communication and interpersonal skills as well as effective time management and organizational skills are necessary. We are seeking a teacher who would be willing to continue to grow and expand our Advanced Placement and/or Dual Enrollment program.
Working Environment:
Middle Park High School is located in Granby Colorado 90 miles NW of Denver and 20 miles from the Winter Park Ski area. School is in session Monday-Thursday from 8:00-4:18. MPHS has approximately 400 students in grades 9-12 and serves the communities of Winter Park Fraser Tabernash Granby Grand Lake Hot Sulphur Springs and beyond.
