Danvers Public Schools seeks a Long-term Substitute Preschool Special Education Teacher TeacherPosition OverviewDanvers Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Preschool Special Education Teacher to serve children ages 35 in an inclusive and supportive early childhood setting. The ideal candidate will provide developmentally appropriate specially designed instruction aligned with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and work collaboratively with families and service providers to support the unique learning behavioral and social-emotional needs of young children with disabilities.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstruction and Classroom SupportDeliver direct specially designed instruction to preschool-aged children in alignment with IEP goals in areas such as communication motor skills social-emotional development early academics and adaptive behavior.Design and implement engaging developmentally appropriate lessons using evidence-based early childhood and special education practices.Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning profiles of students within an integrated or substantially separate preschool classroom.Utilize data collection tools to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.IEP Development and ImplementationConduct assessments and contribute to eligibility evaluations annual reviews and progress reports in compliance with state and federal regulations.Develop high-quality IEPs that reflect individual student strengths needs and services.Collaborate with team members including therapists and families to ensure goals and accommodations are implemented with fidelity.Collaboration and CommunicationWork closely with related service providers (e.g. speech-language pathologists occupational therapists physical therapists school psychologists) to support integrated service delivery.Communicate regularly with families to share student progress and offer strategies to support learning at home.Participate in team meetings parent conferences and multidisciplinary planning.Support transitions into and out of the preschool program including collaboration with Early Intervention and kindergarten staff.Environment and Behavior SupportCreate a structured nurturing classroom environment that supports self-regulation social skills development and positive behavior.Implement proactive developmentally appropriate behavior supports and collaborate on individualized behavior intervention plans as needed.Ensure a safe inclusive and welcoming classroom for all learners.The Danvers Public School District is committed to the principle of equal opportunity in education and employment.
