Special Education Paraprofessional (0.9) PreK

Early Learning Center

Days: Monday Wednesday Thursday Friday: 8:30-3:30

Tuesday: 8:30-12

Start Date: August 26 2025

The Integrated Program provides an environment in which children in need of special education services are learning with and from their peers in an inclusive setting. The goal of the program is to provide developmentally appropriate learning opportunities that are individualized to meet the needs of each child. The program provides a language based developmental preschool experience.

Position Purpose

Under the supervision of a certified staff member to assist certified professional staff with students in the classroom to meet academic social and behavioral goals and objectives.

Essential Job Functions

  • Implements lessons and activities with the necessary accommodations and modifications required to meet the individual needs of students in the classroom as directed by the teacher.
  • Implements interventions and de-escalation strategies with students who display significant behavioral issues within the school setting.
  • Collect and accurately record behavioral social academicand other data as required per students specific goals and programming.
  • Implements ABA programming.
  • Consistently communicates and collaborates with staff to foster student success.
  • Assist students with activities of daily living including toileting for the purpose of maximizing their ability to participate in school or learning activities.
  • Implements positive behavior supports and plans and collects data on student progress.
  • Assists students in non-instructional areas such as supervising the student lunch programs bus duty playground duty bathroom corridor and other related non-instructional areas. Includes toileting and changing.
  • Performs other job duties as required or directed by supervisors.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with ABA.
  • Experience with collecting data.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students employees and others.
  • Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students withdisabilities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students staff and others contacted in the course of work.
  • Effective writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to assist with all aspects of student self-care including toileting.
  • Implement crisis/emergency procedures according to protocol.

Qualifications Profile

  • Highly Qualified; 2 years college credits or equivalent (Parapro).
  • Prior experience working withstudents with autism preferred.
  • SafetyCareor comparable de-esculation training preferred.
