JOB DESCRIPTION



TITLE: High School/ Middle School Teacher REPORTS TO: Principal

CLASSIFICATION: Certificated WORK YEAR: 185 Days

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The high school teacher plans implements and evaluates learning programs and activities to maximize the learning of each individual student consistent with District goals and objectives.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

  1. Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs interests and abilities of students.
  2. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  3. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals andin harmony with the goalsestablish clear objectives for all lessons units projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
  4. Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  5. Communicate with parents and school counselors on pupil progress.
  6. Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in helping pupils solve health attitude and learning problems.
  7. Establish and maintain cooperative relations with others including the utilization of parents as career resource consultants.
  8. Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  9. Other duties as assigned by the Principal.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Training Education and Experience

Possession of a Single Subject Teaching Credential with CLAD emphasis or be qualified to obtain one. Possession of a Bachelors Degree or higher. Must meet Federal No Child Left Behind compliance demonstrating competency to teach in a single subject classroom.

  • Knowledge

Applicant should have knowledge of the California State Content Standards (grades 9-12) demonstrate an understanding of the Standards for the Teaching Profession have an understanding of the different modalities of learning possess a willingness to work in a collaborative setting within the high school have or be willing to acquire knowledge of State Education Code as well as that of the local school district and its policies.

  • Skills

Applicant should have a working understanding of computer and technology applications effective interpersonal communication skills good judgment and sound decision-making commitment to confidentiality of sensitive materials understanding of SDAIE teaching strategies flexibility and receptivity to change maintenance of cooperative and professional working relationships with peers students administration and all other school and district personnel.
