Qualifications:
- Valid Massachusetts license as Supervisor/Director or Principal/Assistant Principal (9-12).
- Masters Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of five years experience as a teacher in a public high school setting required.
- Previous experience in a vocational high school preferred.
- Previous experience in a school administrative position preferred
Reports to: Principal/Deputy-Director
Summary of Job Description: To assist the Principal/Deputy-Director in managing the overall school operations in accordance with school District and State policies; provide leadership to staff; maintain safety of school environment; coordinate site activities; communicate information to staff; address situations problems and/or conflicts that could negatively impact the school; and represent the school in district communities.
Responsibilities:
- Enforce the Student Code of Conduct; familiarize students staff and parents/guardians with the disciplinary procedures; hear and act on behavior problems referred by staff; compile annual discipline report; facilitate the annual review of the Student Handbook
- Maintain all discipline and attendance issues/records for students in a designated group of Vocational Programs.
- Meet with faculty staff students and parents as required to discuss student disciplinary/attendance records.
- Oversee the staff of In-House Attendance After-School detention and security personnel.
- Manage all aspects of the School Bus Transportation.
- Directly supervise:
- The arrival of students in the morning
- The departure of students in the afternoon
- The student parking lot
- Supervise the lunches and coordinate faculty lunch duty assignments and faculty morning assignments.
- Keep abreast of educational civil and criminal statutes as they relate to due process.
- Administer and supervise substitute coverages and assignments for all academic areas.
- Assist in the process of interviewing evaluating and selecting new staff members.
- Assist in the supervision of co-curricular activities in the school as assigned by the Principal/Deputy-Director; assist the Principal with the planning and supervision of the Graduation ceremony.
- Oversee bus evacuation drills in conjunction with the Safety Coordinator and the bus company.
- Assist in working with individual staff needs.
- Supervise and evaluate the Vocational Department Heads and any other staff as assigned by the Principal/Deputy-Director.
- Organize and facilitate in collaboration with the Vocational Deans and Department Heads the implementation of Senior Project.
- Collaborate with other administrators (Academic Program Coordinator Special Education Administrator Educational Technology Manager) in developing professional development programs for all staff.
- Assist with the communication between the school and the communities the school serves.
- Assist in working with civil authorities (community youth agencies police fire court officials etc.).
- Work with the Principal/Deputy-Director Administrator for Student Services and Department Heads in developing the Master Schedule and Program of Studies annually.
- Assist the Principal/Deputy-Director in creating a school climate that engenders engagement and fosters respect equity and inclusion.
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent/Director and/or Principal/Deputy-Director.
Evaluation: Annual evaluation conducted by the Principal/Deputy-Director in accordance with provisions of School Committee Policy and the DESE School-Level Administrator Evaluation Model System.
