The role of a school counselor in Catholic high schools is varied and there are many jobs that one must perform. The job requires an organized person with foresight to plan for the future regarding testing and other guidance tasks. Communication is an essential element of this job requiring emails and phone calls daily and meeting with the Director of Guidance to keep her informed about completed jobs and to ask questions as needed. A counselor has to be able to multitask and be willing to drop whatever he/she is doing to speak with a student in need. Therefore this jobs key attributes are compassion empathy and flexibility. Overall the part-time counselor is a key player in the Guidance Office working with the Director of Guidance and the Guidance Administrative Assistant. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESThe preferred candidate will:Have an academic background in School Counseling and be able to communicate model and promote the Catholic faith. Work closely with the Director of Guidance the Guidance Administrative Assistant and faculty to provide data information schedules etc. to ensure the students with students to ensure their success academically socially and emotionally. Lead clubs or groups for a specific student population during the school day.
