The Opportunity:
The Payments Specialist performs transactional production of expense payments for Washington State University Colleges and Extension Campuses. Under general supervision the essential function of this role is to provide fiscal support as a member of the Payment Services team. The role reviews expenses determines proper handling of a wide variety of transactions assists with reconciliations and performs the final compliance review prior to expenditure ofWSUresources. Using independent judgment the Payment Specialist will audit and process various invoice documents and requests for payment in a high-volume environment. Works cross-functionally with the procurement and accounting teams to follow internal controls established by governing boards. Provides exceptional customer support as it relates to the Payment service functions to both the university community and external partners. The position completes payments to suppliers reimbursements and expenses in accordance with the policies and procedures of the university in an accurate and timely manner.
Additional Information:
This is a full time (100% FTE) permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary: $3477 to $4632 Range 40 (Steps A-M) Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidates current experience education skills and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
Three years of fiscal record keeping experience; OR equivalent education/experience.
One to three years of accounting finance or closely related experience; education may be substituted for each year of relevant professional experience.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Applications and ERP software.
Attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Problem solver that can handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a timely manner in a high-volume environment.
Strong communication skills to clearly explain options and solutions to customers.
Actively participate in team building activities create positive morale and promote an inclusive office atmosphere.
Preferred Qualifications:
Work experience with Workday.
12-24 academic credits in a business discipline.
Familiar with WSU policies and procedures related to Payment Services and Procurement.
Previous professional experience in at Washington State University or another academic institution.
