Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual emotional physical and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelors degree from a recognized accredited college or university;

  • Valid Texas Teacher certificate;
  • General knowledge of coaching techniques and strategies;
  • Knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules and regulations;
  • A minimum of three (3) years of coaching experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates leadership in working with diverse students staff families and communities.
  • Must be willing to obtain and maintain a current automated external defibrillator (AED) and CPR certifications.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Probationary/Term Contract: 187 days

SALARY:

Pay Grade T60 (Teacher Classification) as approved by the Board of Trustees

FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist the campus athletic coordinator and head football coach with the operation and management of the high school football program and the middle school feeder pattern.
  2. Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and media to promote individual growth in football fundamentals teamwork and good sportsmanship to improve the abilities of student-athletes in the football program.
  3. Assist the head football coach in the areas of supervision and leadership of the professional football staff.
  4. Establish performance criteria for competition. Regularly evaluate and assess students athletic abilities for successful performance of fundamental football skills.
  5. Assist with the coordination of daily administrative support statistical analysis and opponent preparation in the development of the weekly game plan during the season.
  6. Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the coaching program and make changes as needed based on findings.
  7. Assist the campus athletic coordinator/head football coach with the care and maintenance of all campus athletic fields facilities and equipment including the cleaning/sanitizing repairing and storage of equipment. Make recommendations for repair and replacement when appropriate.
  8. Keep informed and ensure compliance with all UIL rules.
  9. Monitor and enforce UIL/CFISD student eligibility criteria for athletic participation. Promote scholastic excellence in the football program.
  10. Work with the athletic coordinator/head football coach to schedule athletic competitions and coordinate travel arrangements.
  11. Instruct and advise students on NCAA rules and regulations with regard to academic requirements/eligibility for scholarships and recruiting practices.
  12. Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests practice sessions and in the school environment in accordance with the CFISD student code of conduct and the student handbook.
  13. Encourage by example and through instruction sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation. Establish and maintain open communication with all stakeholders.
  14. Work with the head football coach and the football staff to maximize the performance of all participants in the middle school feeder pattern.
  15. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assume responsibility for approved extracurricular activities or outside activities for which you are the sponsor.
  • Be a positive role model for students; support mission of school district.

Classroom Management and Organization

  • Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical social and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
  • Assist in selecting books equipment and other instructional materials.
  • Compile maintain and file all reports records and other documents required.

Communication

  • Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents students colleagues and community members.

Professional Growth and Development

  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  • Comply with state district and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct the work of instructional aide(s) if assigned.

MENTAL DEMANDS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Athletic equipment standard office equipment including computer and peripherals and other instructional equipment; automated external defibrillator (AED); operate school bus

  • Posture: Prolonged standing; kneeling squatting bending and stooping; frequent driving; moderate grasping/squeezing wrist flexion/extension and reaching

  • Motion: Frequent walking and physical movements associated with sport(s) assigned

  • Lifting: Frequently light lifting (less than 15 pounds); occasional moderate lifting or carrying (15-44 pounds)

  • Environment: Work outside (exposure to sun heat cold and inclement weather) and inside; frequent exposure to noise; frequent district-wide and state-wide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; moderate exposure to vehicle fumes and work around moving vehicles

  • Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress
