INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT STAFF: ARTS WELLNESS and TECHNOLOGY (AWT)JOB GOALS: To work closely with teachers administrators and other team members in providing educational benefits and support for students primarily within the Arts Wellness and Technology (AWT) programs at the 5-12 grade TO: Assistant Principal ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in the school environment and community.2. Participates in in-service training programs as approved.3. Maintains a safe working environment and encourages colleagues to be safety minded in the performance of all school-related duties.4. Performs other such duties/assignments as directed by administration and/or Team Leader.5. Able to provide curriculum support for elective classes in grades 5 -12 which support GLCPS goals of preparing students for the ever-changing requirements of 21st century education and SCHOOL (Grades 5-8):In addition to the above:1. Works with diverse groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by certified AWT staff.2. Assists the certified staff in devising special strategies for reinforcing learning materials and skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students their needs interests and abilities.3. Assists as directed by certified staff in the effort to successfully maintain students with special needs in an integrated setting as determined by the IEP Team.4. Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular certified staff.5. Performs clerical and instructional duties as assigned by the certified staff.6. Alerts the certified staff to any problem or special information about an individual student.7. Performs assigned supervision of students during lunch periods transition periods and on field trips.8. When requested serves as an additional resource person to the Student Support and/or IEP Team(s).HIGH SCHOOL (Grades 9-12):In addition to the above:1. Assists in the support/development of appropriate Computer Science Technology Curriculum for students in grades 9-12.2. Collaborates with the Technology Coordinator & Specialist to provide engaging activities that increase student exposure to technology training as well as promote collaboration and critical thinking. 3. Collaborates with the Technology Coordinator & Specialist to conduct ongoing assessment of student growth and progress and modifies instructional methods to fit individual students needs according to their IEP and/or 504 and conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.4. Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the Computer Science Technology field by attending seminars participating in professional organizations workshops or professional meetings or by conducting research.
