The Housing and Residential Education (HRE) team at the University of Denver is committed to providing housing and support services for over 3000 on-campus students. Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Manager of Occupancy the Coordinator of Housing Occupancy is responsible for managing various housing processes including assisting with occupancy management facilitating room changes creating & updating room assignments meal plan administration maintaining accuracy of student data and using information to communicate policy and procedures. This position performs various important administrative and operational functions in support of the residential operations area including but not limited to early arrival coordination support space management and assisting with office administration including but not limited to responding to telephone email and in-person inquiries.

This is a 12-month hourly position.

Essential Functions

Occupancy

  • Responsible for the accurate administration of student account billing
  • Assist with the room selection process and manage room assignments including special populations such as student athletes LLCs and students with accommodations.
  • Asist with coordinating assignments for break periods and summer housing.
  • Maintain open spaces occupancy placements room changes pending housing assignments related correspondence and special consideration lists as appropriate.
  • Assist with training staff members in housing operations processes and room assignments and serves as an informational resource.
  • Administer meal plans and meal plan cash each quarter.
  • Contributes to the process of facilitating the housing and meal plan contract cancellation or release request procedures.
  • Curate occupancy reports weekly and as needed by the department.

StarRez/DU Systems

  • Develop understanding of StarRez system for occupancy needs
  • Participate and/or lead cross training efforts on the various aspects of the StarRez system.
  • Coordinate and manage the assignment & meal plan processes including billing within the various university software systems (i.e. Banner StarRez Transact and others).

Housing & Office Administration

  • Provides administrative support for the department which includes but is not limited to responding to telephone email and in-person inquiries scheduling appointments meetings and room reservations resolving a variety of issues and complaints maintaining a high level of communication with other departments colleagues or external sources while providing a high level of customer service.
  • Assists the Residential Operations team on projects and assignments related to facilities Conference & Events Services Fraternity & Sorority Life and/or housing operational processes as needed.
  • Establish priorities to ensure that all projects and assignments are completed in a timely manner with minimal supervision.

Accommodations

  • Coordinate and implement accommodations approved through Accessible DU: Student Disability Services including but not limited to single room accommodations ESA management and Service Animal management.

Staff Training Supervision and Development

  • Provide staff direction support and professional development during staff meetings.
  • Attend regularly scheduled one-on-one meetings with the Manager of Occupancy.
  • Create a supportive environment that promotes the professional and personal development of each staff member.

Student Rights Responsibilities

  • Support Student Rights & Responsibilities regarding housing assignment issues.
  • Properly report all alleged violations of the Guide to Residence Living Honor Code and other University policies.

Departmental Responsibilities

  • Attend and participate in HRE Divisional and University meetings and task forces.
  • Attend regularly scheduled one-on-one supervisory meetings with the Supervisor.
  • Develop working relationships with key campus partners including but not limited to: Department of Campus Safety Student Rights and Responsibilities Office of the Vice Chancellor Athletics Fraternity and Sorority Life Conference & Events Services Disabilities Services Program Financial Student Services and other University-related services.
  • Attend events and programs sponsored by HRE and/or the Division of SAIE including those that periodically occur on weekends and evenings

Required Qualifications

  • Associates degree with one (1) year of administrative experience.
  • Experience working with Housing database and reporting systems.
  • Strong housing operational experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Administration Business or a related field or High School diploma or equivalency with two to three years of administrative experience.
  • Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences Business or a related area of study.
  • One to two years of post-Bachelors work experience in residence life housing or an office setting.
  • Experience working in room assignments or housing software systems at an institution of higher learning.

Work Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with some nights or weekends.

Salary Grade Number

The salary grade for the position is 6.

Hourly Range

The hourly range for the position is $22.00-$23.00.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate departmental budget availability internal salary equity considerations and available market information but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
