SUMMARY:

The Manager of Dietary Services is responsible for supervising planning organizing and reviewing operational functions within the Dietary Services department. This employee will partner with food service personnel and the Senior Director of Support Services regarding the direction needs and strategic initiatives of the department to promote the highest quality of care and safety of EPH patients. In addition to supervisory and managerial duties this individual will function as a clinical dietitian providing safe individualized and effective medical nutrition therapies to inpatients outpatients and other stakeholders of EPH.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Responsible for the daily oversight of department operations including ensuring appropriate staffing hospital food service cafeteria service and catering.
  • Expected to cover scheduling gaps as needed.
  • Supervises department personnel continually reinforcing customer service principles food safety principles and department objectives.
  • Helps maintain an environment of survey preparedness through in-serving staff education reinforcement and internal auditing.
  • Balances operational needs and expenses with approved budget and departmental objectives.
  • Practices exceptional customer service and communication with stakeholders of EPH.
  • Provides individualized medical nutrition therapies to patients as ordered or requested on an inpatient and outpatient basis.
  • Leverages counseling concepts and educational resources to promote efficacy and positive behavioral changes.
  • Assesses nutritional needs of patients and works to create sensible individualized care plans.
  • Monitors data to determine nutritional needs of patients and effectiveness of interventions.
  • Works with department personnel to ensure adherence to nutritional principles and orders.
  • Oversees meal planning; may help manage product mix and procurement needs.
  • Codes prepares and organizes invoices for purposes of remittance.
  • Manages credit card receipts and balances cash or other payment tenders against daily POS reports from the Caf and Coffee Shop.
  • Maintains end-of-month (EOM) documentation.
  • Tracks and codes internal transfers as part of EOM processes.
  • Oversees and assists in maintaining temperature logs and meals served documentation.
  • Collaborates with the Senior Director of Support Services on policy and procedure review development and adoption.
  • Continuously monitors for changes in NIAHO FDA and other pertinent requirements identifying gaps and working with personnel to address requirements.
  • Completes tray audits kitchen sanitation audits or other audits as directed.
  • Oversees personnel scheduling and timecard management functions.
  • Ensures staff are compliant with trainings and employee health requirements.
  • Communicates with vendors regarding the scheduling for routine services and other equipment maintenance needs.
  • Exercises conflict resolution and de-escalation principles as indicated.
  • Helps disseminate and reinforce organizational communications and change efforts.
  • Collaborates with the Senior Director of Support Services regarding evaluation and performance reviews of assigned staff.
  • Develops monitors and presents quality metrics as part of quality improvement (QI) initiatives in coordination with the Quality department.
  • Completes other QI and process improvement (PI) projects as assigned by the Senior Director of Support Services.
  • Partners with department personnel on QI/PI projects.
  • Performs all job-related duties as assigned; may have additional department-specific duties assigned as deemed necessary by management to meet business needs.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition and/or Dietetics.
  • Completion of an approved Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Association accredited internship.
  • Passed the examination to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).
  • Certified Diabetes Educator preferred.
  • Previous food service experience preferred.

PAY RANGE:

$28.09 - $48.81 per hour
