New Hire Experience:

Job Summary:
To supervise the daily operation of the federal and state grants department and staff to ensure the adherence to district policies and procedures and county state and federal regulations. Oversee the management of the coordination of grants to ensure adherence to federal and state program and financial regulations requirements and audits district wide.
Key Responsibilities:

Hire assess and oversee the performance of assigned staff members
Supervise federal and state grants staff regarding journal entries revenue account number coding and other related tasks
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure adherence to all federal and state rules and regulations for overall grant administration and accounting functions
Forecast budget requirements and trends to ensure adequate funding to meet specific grant goals including estimates for carryover balances and proposed new fiscal year budgets
Assist district personnel in developing proposals applications and revisions
Review and approve all grant proposals applications and amendments for submittal to appropriate agencies
Prepare federal state and IGA revenue and expense budgets with extensive use of spreadsheets and databases
Analyze complicated financial data to ensure accuracy and make recommendations based on valid content
Develop account codes and budgetary structure to ensure accurate financial reporting according to individual grant requirements governmental agencies and adherence to USFR guidelines
Prepare financial reports related to federal and state grants
Approve all expenses (ePARS requisitions travel requests etc.) to ensure budgetary limits and within grant guidelines
Serve as a liaison for the District concerning federal and state officials and auditors
Identify and assess areas of compliance risk for the District and work closely with program directors to ensure that federal funds are used and accounted for effectively
Collaborate with department and school leaders supervisors and staff to align processes and procedures while actively seeking their input; lead or participate in joint committees and working groups
Focus on continuous improvement by analyzing data assessing systems and timelines and recommending adjustments to enhance procedures and strategies; provide root cause analysis and suggestions to the administration
Identify opportunities to optimize the use of various information systems and liaise with system representatives to stay informed on updates and explore potential improvements
Work with administration and staff to identify ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness in assigned areas and related departmental functions
Develop and execute both short- and long-term goals for assigned responsibilities
Stay informed on federal and state laws and best practices relevant to the assigned area through ongoing research
Manage special projects and perform additional tasks related to areas of responsibility as assigned by administration
Assist with other accounting and budgetary duties as assigned
Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their duties
Assist with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
