We are seeking a dedicated Clinic Manager for our Alamosa Dental Clinic. The Clinic Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and strategic management of Valley-Wide Health Systems dental clinic in Alamosa. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality efficient and patient-centered care while maintaining full compliance with regulatory agencies including HRSA FTCA AAAHC and others. The manager provides direct supervision of front office and dental support staff oversees the integration of dental residents and externs and leads the dental assistant competency and development program across all Valley-Wide sites.
Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
Clinic Operations Management:
- Manage day-to-day operations to ensure optimal clinic functionality including patient flow scheduling billing support and dental equipment maintenance.
- Maintain and track dental supply inventory and ensure timely reordering of supplies and materials.
- Partner with the Director of Dental Operations to establish and implement policies procedures and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Monitor productivity metrics for both clinical and support staff and identify strategies for operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with infection control standards OSHA HIPAA and Valley-Wide protocols.
- Serve as the central point of contact for all operational matters within the dental clinic addressing both staff and patient concerns.
Supervision and Team Leadership:
- Directly supervise dental assistants and front office personnel including scheduling performance evaluations and daily support.
- Foster a team-oriented culture that promotes collaboration accountability and professional growth.
- Lead regular dental staff meetings and represent the dental team in Valley-Wide leadership meetings and committees.
Dental Residency Program Oversight:
- Coordinate with academic institutions for the placement onboarding and orientation of dental residents and externs.
- Serve as liaison between educational institutions site supervisors and the dental team to ensure compliance with program objectives.
- Support resident integration into clinical operations ensuring structured schedules appropriate supervision and meaningful learning opportunities.
Dental Assistant Competency Review & Training
- Lead the development and implementation of a standardized dental assistant training and competency program in collaboration with Dental Leadership and Compliance/HR.
- Oversee onboarding skills assessments and annual evaluations for dental assistants across Valley-Wide locations.
- Identify training needs and coordinate continuing education (CEU) or skill-building opportunities as necessary.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date training documentation and competency records in alignment with regulatory standards.
Patient Access & Experience
- Monitor patient satisfaction appointment access and complaint resolution for the dental clinic.
- Collaborate with Patient Services the Call Center and other departments to ensure timely access to care and meet organizational access benchmarks.
Reporting & Documentation
- Compile and analyze reports related to clinic staffing scheduling productivity patient flow and quality indicators.
- Participate in internal and external audits inspections and performance improvement initiatives.
- Ensure timely resolution of facility maintenance issues in collaboration with the Facilities team.
- If licensed may perform direct patient care duties (e.g. dental assistant or nursing tasks) within the scope of licensure.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Healthcare Administration Business Dental Hygiene or related field required; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Clinical credentials preferred: RN LPN Certified Medical Assistant or Certified Dental Assistant.
- Minimum of 35 years of progressive experience in dental clinic operations preferably in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or similar setting.
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience required.
- Experience managing dental residency or assistant training programs strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint).
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel between clinic sites as needed.
- Knowledge of medical/dental terminology preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust across departments and leadership levels.
