Oncology Nurse Practitioner Job UCM Medical Group

UChicago Medicine Medical Group seeks a compassionate and highly skilled Oncology Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our dedicated oncology team in Harvey Illinois. The ideal candidate will provide expert care to cancer patients including diagnosis treatment planning symptom management and patient education. This role involves working closely with oncologists nurses and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive cancer care at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial.

Oncology Nurse Practitioner Role and Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments including patient history and physical exams.
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions related to oncology.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with oncologists.
  • Provide symptom management and supportive care for patients undergoing cancer treatments.
  • Educate patients and families on treatment options disease progression and symptom management.
  • Assess & treat common chemotherapy/immunotherapy infusion reactions.
  • Evaluate port PICC central line sites for infection bleeding functionality while covering IV therapy.
  • Assist in coordinating care across multidisciplinary teams including palliative care and social work.
  • Participate in clinical trials research initiatives and quality improvement projects as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in electronic medical records (EMR).

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
  • Certified as a Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)
  • Current RN Illinois license and Advanced Practice Nurse (APN)
  • Must have or be able to qualify for Illinois and DEA prescribing numbers
  • Oncology experience preferred.
  • Strong clinical decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and patient education skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and oncology-specific documentation.

Compensation & Benefits Overview

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
