Job Description:
The Manager Group Governance is a key role in managing risk within the Group Benefits and Group Retirement Services business. The successful candidate will deliver centralized governance support to GB and GRS with an initial focus on supporting the sponsor proposals contracting and due diligence processes. The role will require partnership with the respective Business Development and Proposals teams and with key internal cross functional stakeholders. This role will at times be client-facing.

What will you do
- Address inquiries in Sponsor Requests for Proposals Quotations or Information with a focus on governance and compliance items.
- Provide expertise on sponsor contracts including Service and Fee Agreements (SFA) and Master Service Agreements (MSA) language related to governance items ensuring that contractual agreements align with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
- Engage in annual audits and certifications required to maintain compliance with sponsor contracts (ie. SOC2 ISO) for GB & GRS ensuring thorough preparation and successful outcomes
- Participate in annual regulator inquiries and questionnaires.
- Maintain an up-to-date repository of standard responses addressing governance inquiries tailored specifically for information used in business development proposals and sponsor agreements.
- Participate in client audits and client due diligence processes/questionnaires providing expertise on Sun Lifes governance processes
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of key regulations governing sponsor agreements; conduct impact assessments and implement action plans when sponsor proposals agreements or due diligence processes are impacted by regulatory or legislative changes
- Provide expert support for additional governance processes as the team mandate evolves.

- Excellent understanding of the group benefits and/or group retirement services environment
- Strong knowledge and understanding of privacy legislation and regulatory requirements
- Strong partnership and organizational navigation skills
- Exceptional written communication skills and the ability to present to executive-level and external audiences
- Advanced problem-solving analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to think clearly and respond effectively under pressure
- Strong organization skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities independently
- Ability to review and interpret complex material such as legislative changes and legal agreements.
- Self-starter with initiative and desire to probe and develop solutions
- Ability to work in ambiguous situations with limited process definition or documentation
- Adaptability to change and ability to pivot quickly with shifting priorities
- Strong influence management and collaboration skills to achieve goals
- Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) is an asset
- Bilingualism (French English; both oral and written) is required for the frequent interactions with English- and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada and worldwide; the position reports to a unilingual English-speaking manager outside Quebec.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
