Job Description

Reporting to the Recovery Supervisor the Relief Housing Case Worker will be a crucial member of a multidisciplinary team working on a transitional housing program. The program consists of a four-month transitional housing program with recovery-oriented systems of care available to clients. The Relief Housing Case Worker will have an emphasis on skill development for independent living in areas such as financial literacy employment and connection to long-term/post-program community-based supports such as mental and physical health social and recreational programs cultural supports and others.

In this role you will have the opportunity to work with a dedicated team committed to providing support and care to individuals facing homelessness. Position Type:Casual Fixed Term till March 2024
Schedule: Shifts are scheduled on an as-needed basis including days evenings and overnights.
Reporting to: Recovery Supervisor
Location: 1010 Centre Calgary AB

Key Responsibilities

  • Connect with clients to help secure long-term housing and advocate for them to landlords.
  • Build positive relationships with clients and support them in achieving their goals.
  • Ensure clients daily needs are met and provide a welcoming environment to address their concerns.
  • Assist in developing clients daily living skills and support their networks.
  • Manage assigned client case load and conduct wellness checks and first aid as needed.
  • Document client interactions referrals progress and incidents in a timely manner.
  • Promote client safety by conducting security rounds and advocating for their needs.
  • Collaborate with internal services host events and contribute to new group development while supporting the Recovery Supervisor as needed.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

  • Diploma or an undergraduate degree in a related field
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with marginalized individuals
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work within a cross-functional team
  • The ability to interact with a variety of individuals
  • Strong administrative and computer skills
  • Conflict resolution skills and the ability to manage residents in crisis situations
  • A passion to be part of ending homelessness in Alberta.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • An Employment Background Check is required for all positions at The Mustard Seed
