Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) is Wisconsins largest and most diverse technical college offering 170 high-quality programs that connect students to a career in as little as one to two years. One (1) full-time vacancy beginning in August 2025.

This is an academic year position which typically runs from mid- August through mid-May.


Under the supervision of the Dean or designee to teach classroom laboratory and clinical courses in Surgical Technology program to associate degree level students. Related duties include development and teaching of all surgical technology program courses. Duties also include ordering supplies and equipment maintenance conducting and supervising clinical learning experiences evaluating student achievement assisting in the development of curriculum helping to formulate departmental policy and procedures evaluating program effectiveness developing strategies to enhance student achievement participation in divisional and departmental activities developing a program budget and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements:

Must meet the following:

  1. A minimum of a Bachelors degree or higher in any field is required.
  2. Must have graduated from an accredited Surgical Technology program which meets the requirements of the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).

Preferred: Associates Degree in applied science preferred.

Occupational Requirements:

Must have a minimum of two (2) years full-time (4000 hours) of work experience as an occupational Surgical Technologist. In addition one of the following must be met:

1. At least two (2) years of work experience must have occurred within the last five (5) years.

OR

2. Two (2) years of teaching Surgical Technology course work at the post-secondary level within the last five (5) years.


(One (1) year of teaching experience is equivalent two (2) semesters full-time or four (4) semesters part-time - per State of Wisconsin Legislature Administrative Code TCS3 3. 04)


Industry Certification Required:

Must hold current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) and/orcurrent certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist/Certified Surgical First Assistant (CST/CSFA) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).

Healthcare Pathway Pre-employment Requirements:

Must satisfactorily complete health screen requirements for the Healthcare Pathway which include a criminal background check drug test and verification of immunizations.

SUPPORTIVE TECHNOLOGY:

Experience with or willingness to learn the following supportive technologies:

  • Online Information Management Systems- Experience with INFOnline or other online information management systems used for student advising student programs grading class schedules and rosters.
  • Blackboard- Experience with Blackboard or other web-based course - management systems.
  • Technology-based Instruction- Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium interactive touch screen monitors LCD projectors DVD players and/or other classroom technology.
  • Emerging Technologies- Experience with emerging technologies (i.e. social networking applications).
  • (Optional) Distance Learning Instruction- Experience with on-line two-way video ITV and other methods of distance learning instruction.

Supplemental Information

Start Date: This position supports the Healthcare Pathway and is available to start in the fall semester or August 2025.


Hours: Up to 32 hours weekly in-person primarily based out of the Downtown Campus. Work is conducted during scheduled course hours Monday - Friday. Hours vary based on departmental needs. Employees will conduct all work hours in the State of Wisconsin performing work outside the state is strictly prohibited.


Salary: Salary is determined by years of experience credit and internal salary equity. Salary determination will be only based on years of credited experience that is listed on thejob application please include complete work history.
