Role Overview

Were hiring a Controller to own and scale the accounting function at Atomic as we prepare for our first financial audit and Series B. You will run day-to-day accounting operations lead month-end close implement internal controls and ensure GAAP-aligned reporting. Youll collaborate with the Head of Finance and work cross-functionally with the operations engineering and procurement teams to build a clean auditable financial backbone for a complex real-world business.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives on ownership structure and precision.


What Youll Do

Accounting Operations

  • Own and execute monthly close including revenue recognition cost accounting AP/AR and reconciliations

  • Maintain clean accurate records in QuickBooks Online

  • Supervise all accounting workflows within our ERP system (Fulcrum) including invoicing job costing and expense tracking

  • Manage the Procurement & Accounting Coordinator and any future bookkeeping/accounting hires

  • Administer our employee expense management platform (e.g. Brex) including policy and compliance oversight

GAAP Compliance & Audit Prep

  • Implement and document internal controls including segregation of duties and audit trail procedures

  • Build on our audit framework to prepare the company for its first financial audit in 2026

  • Own GAAP-aligned accounting policies and reporting documentation

  • Serve as primary contact for external accounting firms and auditors

Inventory & Cost Controls

  • Lead inventory management and cost-tracking processes across our toolmaking and injection molding operations

  • Work with operations to ensure accurate COGS and job costing including materials labor and overhead allocation

  • Create and enforce SOPs for physical inventory controls and cycle counting

Budgeting & Internal Reporting

  • Support company-wide budgeting alongside the Head of Finance

  • Lead cash flow tracking and maintain short- and medium-term financial visibility

  • Collaborate with the Head of Finance and engineering team to build ERP-integrated dashboards for internal reporting

  • Contribute to board and investor materials as needed

External Coordination

  • Manage third-party CPA firms for tax state & local compliance and R&D credit filings

  • Coordinate with external vendors for payroll and banking

  • Support diligence processes for future fundraising rounds and financial partnerships


What Were Looking For

  • 710 years of progressive accounting experience including cost accounting and inventory control in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong experience running close processes and preparing for GAAP compliance

  • Proven ability to manage and implement accounting systems and internal controls

  • Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online and ERP platforms (Fulcrum preferred)

  • Detail-oriented process-driven and able to create structure in a fast-moving company

  • Comfortable managing junior accounting staff and external vendors

Nice to Have

  • CPA or equivalent credential

  • Experience preparing for financial audits

  • Experience with ERP configuration and accounting workflow design

  • Familiarity with manufacturing tooling or high-mix production environments


Compensation

  • Base Salary Range: $130000 $160000

  • Equity: Competitive equity package

  • Bonus: Performance-based bonus tied to financial and operational milestones
