The Coroner Decedent Management Specialist is a Coroner appointed under section 54 of the Coroners Act who investigates deaths and supports other coroners investigations by providing the Coroners Service with secure and dignified body storage options for as long as the body remains under coronial authority. The Coroner Decedent Management Specialist will operate a morgue in the Vancouver area and perform visual examinations photography and collect biological specimens for the purpose of toxicology testing on decedents arriving to the morgue from the place of death. This position will manage inventories of decedents in morgues utilized by the Coroners Service across the province and works to expedite the release of decedents to families. The position collaborates with internal and external partners to ensure compliance with legislated authorities and policy standards.
