POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Accountant is located in the Corporate Offices of Nath Companies in Bloomington MN. Reporting to the Controller of the Hotel Division this position is responsible for maintaining and updating the General Ledger including period close activities and the preparation of financial statements with integrity and in accordance with GAAP.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare journal entries for monthly items including accruals and reclasses. This includes prepaid expenses property taxes allocations depreciation and payroll liabilities.
- Reconcile bank accounts including matching daily cash and credit card deposits to posted receipts and ACH and wire transfer activity.
- Establish effective communication with accounting staff at each hotel.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts investigate and discrepancies and maintain appropriate support.
- Reconcile sales tax.
- Perform month-end closing duties.
- Miscellaneous projects as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
The individual must possess the following knowledge skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that they are able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation using some other combination of knowledge skills and abilities:
- Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Demonstrate skills in reading writing and speaking the English language fluently.
- Willingness to take initiative adapt to circumstances and work independently.
- Requires excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with employees customers and vendors.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse work environment
- Excellent organizational and time management skills including the ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects concurrently.
- Must be adaptable have self-motivation and strong follow-through skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree Accounting
- Three years experience in hotel accounting is preferred.
- Knowledge of GAAP financial reporting and internal controls
- Excellent analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge and aptitude for ERP and Accounting systems ideally M3 Hospitality Accounting software.
- Intermediate Excel skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
