Job Description
Summary
In this specialty care role the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will primarily be assigned to medical oncology. Oncology APPs work interdependently with a medical oncologist in the management of oncology patients. The care provided by APPs may include:
- Communicating with referring and primary health care providers
- Conducting comprehensive or episodic health history and physical assessments
- Developing pain management regimens
- Educating patients and families on treatment plans and prevention strategies
- Maintaining clinical documentation
- Ordering performing and interpreting diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-rays
- Provide referrals to other specialty providers
- Overseeing treatment infusions
- Participating in medical oncology-specific clinical quality and research projects
- Prescribing medications and other treatments
- Managing acute illnesses associated with cancer treatment
- Providing palliative care services
