OFFICE ASSISTANT Joy House Milwaukee Rescue Mission Division for Women & Children: The women and children who come to us for emergency or long-term support rely on the safety love and warmth of Joy House and its many services. We nourish and nurture them through training education and spiritual guidance so they can make better lives for themselves and for their kids.
Joy House is seeking a Christian woman to fill a full-time Office Assistant position to provide administrative support to ensure efficient operation of Joy Houses centralized coordination and communication hub. This is a key position to demonstrate guest care hospitality and encourage positive interactions among staff and guests.
WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:00pm with one Saturday per month
LOCATION: Central Campus 830 N. 19th Street Milwaukee WI. 53233
RESPONSIBILITIES: - Perform telephone assessments with all callers and schedule emergency intakes when necessary
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls to appropriate staff take messages and communicate appropriate information to callers
- Monitor the Joy House lobby and dayroom to maintain a calming atmosphere
- Operate multimedia for guest and staff
- Provide quality assurance for intake and statistical forms
- Record stats for all of Joy House and prepare statistical reports for Office Manager
- Communicate vital information (shift events) via electronic log
- In the absence of administrative staff maintain the operation and function of Joy House by assessing immediate needs providing direction and supervising 1st shift staff
- Train new staff on the proper handling of intake calls and assessments and how to operate the phone system security camera and intercom system
- Familiarize new staff with office area logistics and procedures
- Assist guests with accessing their medications copying forms and documents and addressing other needs
- Confirm greet and direct volunteers
- Assist staff with daily tasks when necessary (escorting families to meals check-ins etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS: - A Christian woman who is able to relate well with others in a diverse population
- Undergraduate degree preferably in applicable field (social work hospitality communications office management data entry) and/or 2-4 years of office/administrative work experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational prioritization and time-management skills
- Detail orientated with high degree of accuracy
- Ability to work effectively with diverse families to use discretion and to stay calm and tactful under pressure
- Ability and willingness to follow instructions to be flexible and a team player
- A workplace demeanor consistent with a Christian church environment: civil respectful polite and responsive
- Be in agreement with and subscribe to the MRM Statement of Faith and the MRM Statement of Biblical Convictions
- Be a committed follower of the Lord Jesus Christ which is evident in personal testimony and Christian conduct
- Pass a pre-employment background check and drug test
