About You

You have experience in the Chemical Engineering/Metallurgy/Materials Science or Chemistry environment. You are an open-minded individual that can work with a variety of stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver on what is required. You are eager to learn new and novel processes and apply your skills to bring those ideas to fruition. You have a passion for engineering & science to make a positive impact on the world.

About the Opportunity

Reporting directly to the R&D Operations Manager youll be undertaking scientific research helping with the design and operation of our lab and pilot plant equipment performing data analysis modelling & simulation and contributing to the development of Novaliths technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Undertaking and assisting in the research design development and operation of the Companys laboratory and pilot plant equipment performing data analysis modelling and simulation and contributing to the development of the Companys technologies.
  • Assist in the design and setup of the reactor systems gas handling concentration systems and related equipment.
  • Assist in design of experiments and subsequent experimental testing.
  • Perform analytical characterization data analysis and interpretation of different techniques such as ICP-OES XRD XRF TGA SEM-EDS FT-IR and PSD.
  • Perform data analysis of analytical characterization and experimental data.
  • Conducting background research and literature review relating to the projects and technologies.
  • Perform a range of general support tasks including sourcing and updating materials inventory equipment and supplies.
  • Promote safety in the team and take responsibility for safe laboratory operations.

Whats Required

  • Masters degree or PhD in chemical engineering or related (preferred).
  • Experience with R&D commercialisation mineral leaching and mineral carbonation (preferred).
  • Ideally 5 years experience in the use of Aspen Plus and HSC Chemistry 10 thermodynamic and kinetic Modelling (not essential).
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with attention to detail and good record keeping.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills hands-on experience conducting experiments troubleshooting and maintaining equipment.
