Desirable Qualifications
Experience and skill incorporating elements of diversity equity and inclusion into all areas of responsibility; Recent experience working with African American Asian/Pacific Islander Latinx Native American and other racially minoritized students in the classroom and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion of these groups in higher education shape patterns of participation and outcomes; Experience working with students of various cultural gender age socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds including students with disabilities; Willingness to examine and remediate ones instructional relational and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students; Experience in general nursing with a minimum of five years relevant clinical experience and two recent years of acute care experience in the clinical area of instruction; Education and/or experience in providing quality instruction in theory and clinical settings; Possession of a national certification in their area(s) of clinical expertise preferred; Experience in providing instruction in medical surgical nursing; Experience in or potential for matriculation in pediatric perinatal and psychiatric specialties; Experience in computer-assisted instruction and other instructional technologies; Demonstrated ability to develop collegial working relationships with peers students staff faculty and administration; Demonstrated ability to be an effective liaison and to maintain a harmonious relationship and acceptance into clinical facilities (hospitals clinics subacute areas); Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form with students faculty administration and staff; Demonstrated ability to work with computers and other technologies which are utilized in providing high-quality instruction and support to students; and Knowledge of the community college and its mission and goals.
Minimum Qualifications
All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability gender identity sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom and either (A) or (B); (A) Registered Nurse: Hold a current California active license as a Registered Nurse; and Hold a baccalaureate degree from an approved school; or a valid teaching credential; or have completed a minimum of one-year full-time teaching experience in a state approved registered nursing or vocational or practical nursing or psychiatric technician school within the last five years; or met community college or state university teaching requirements in California; and Have a minimum of two years experience as a registered nurse or licensed vocational nurse within the last five years. Or (B) Licensed Vocational Nurse: Hold a current California active license as a Vocational Nurse; and Hold a baccalaureate degree from an approved school; or a valid teaching credential; or have completed a minimum of one-year full-time teaching experience in a state approved registered nursing or vocational or practical nursing or psychiatric technician school within the last five years; or met community college or state university teaching requirements in California; and Have a minimum of two years experience as a vocational nurse within the last five years. ( Note: A valid California Community College Credential will be accepted however applicants who possess this credential must also meet the above requirements.)
