Senior Planner
Infrastructure Energy Sector
Full Time 2 days per week in Suffolk 3 days remote

Weve just secured an exciting opportunity on a nationally significant infrastructure projectand were looking for a Senior Planner to join our commercial team at Walker Sime.

This is a key role on a major electricity transmission scheme designed to improve network capacity reliability and sustainability across the East of England. Spanning several counties the project includes the construction of new overhead lines the removal of existing infrastructure and the development of new substations and underground cablesall as part of a long-term upgrade to the UKs national energy infrastructure.

Youll be embedded in the commercial team ensuring the project is delivered on time on budget and with full alignment between the programme and commercial strategy. This is a newly created positionif successful it could pave the way for similar roles across several other high-profile energy projects.

The Role

  • Lead project planning and scheduling as part of the commercial function
  • Build and maintain detailed programmes using Primavera P6
  • Conduct programme delay analysis and assess Compensation Events (CEs)
  • Integrate all programme elements in line with NEC contract mechanisms (Clause 31 & 32 EWNs PMIs)
  • Analyse completion and sectional completion dates including implications for delay damages
  • Provide cost and resource loading within P6 to support commercial reporting
  • Collaborate closely with commercial leads to ensure the programme supports cost control and forecasting
  • Help shape a new approach to integrated planning across major energy projects

About You

  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and programme delay analysis
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts particularly Clauses 31 and 32
  • Excellent commercial awareness and understanding of how programme impacts cost and risk
  • Experience in the energy sector ideally with overhead lines substations or cables
  • A proactive solution-focused mindset with the confidence to shape new ways of working
