The Consumer Lending Underwriter primary responsibilities include reviewing loan applications and financial documents analyzing credit reports and scores evaluating income assets and debt levels adhering to lending guidelines and regulations and making recommendations on loan approvals or denials. They are responsible for reviewing auto loan applications from local dealerships using the Dealertrack/Route One interface. They analyze credit data income statements and collateral information to make lending decisions according to credit union policies. This role involves managing credit risk and ensuring loan quality working with various loan products including Auto Credit Card Personal Boat RV and Motorcycle loans. They must also effectively communicate decisions on credit applications and work to capture loan approvals. The Underwriter will work closely with senior underwriters to ensure efficient and accurate assessments.

Specific knowledge skills and abilities required for this position:
Consumer loan underwriting experience. Knowledge of all financial products and services offered by credit unions; excellent member service skills; team player with exceptional interpersonal and oral communication skills; extensive knowledge in the areas of Truth-in-Lending Equal Credit Opportunity Act Fair Credit Reporting Act as well as supporting knowledge in market trends in consumer lending. Current knowledge of auto lending. Strong understanding of credit bureaus tax returns and other financial statements as it relates to making a lending decision. Ability to quickly grasp new software and web site information. MS Office applications experience a plus. Ability to work evenings Saturdays and some holidays as scheduled. Hybrid position that requires working on-site at the credit union headquarters on a weekly basis.
Education: College Degree preferred or equivalent specific job-related experience
Experience: 1-3 years of various loan product underwriting experience Direct and Indirect dealership underwriting experience.
