Athletic Trainer part time

EXPECTED DAYS OF THE WEEK:

Pending Sport M -S

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

The Head Athletic Trainer will be responsible for ensuring proper athletic training services to the school community. These services include but are not limited to communication organization & execution for the Athletic Department. The Head Athletic Trainer will provide support on health wellness injury prevention injury assessment injury rehabilitation and assist the Athletic Director in day-to-day assignments.

The Head Athletic Trainer reports directly to the Athletic Director.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide athletic training services for all home athletic contests and all playoff contests home or away

  • Attendance at all practices on campus determined by Athletic Director

  • Act as a liaison between family physicians specialists the school administration athletes and families

  • Eligibility compliance of all athletes for TAPPS

  • Impact testing compliance of all athletes

  • Wide range of knowledge on injury prevention programs

  • Renders emergency care in the case of an athlete or coach needing emergency care

  • Attend coaches meetings

  • Attend school in-service

  • Consistent communication with parents

  • Maintain cleanliness of athletic training areas

  • Maintain all files & paperwork needed

  • Proper input of injury reports

  • Communication flow with coaches on injuries and rehab with athletes

  • Maintain inventory of sports medicine supplies

  • Assist visiting teams coaches and players with injury evaluation and treatment when necessary

  • Evaluate players after each game and at the end of the season

  • Maintain updated Emergency Action Plans

  • Ensure proper hydration access at each practice and game

  • Schedule and assist with School wide physicals each year

  • Manage coordinate and teach the student athletic training program

  • Maintain all necessary professional certifications

  • Communicates with school nurse regarding any injuries

  • Works with school nurse as needed per AD or HOS

  • Member of the ERT

  • Assist AD with other tasks assigned

Qualifications

Minimum requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Proper degree license & certifications

  • Provide own professional insurance

  • Must exemplify exceptional interpersonal skills and problem-solving ability

  • Must maintain prompt and regular attendance

  • Must coordinate proper coverage when gaining an approved absence

  • Must have working knowledge of school & student safety

  • Frequent evening work

  • Occasional requirements to perform duties in inclement weather conditions

  • Must know TAPPS rules and by-laws

  • Knowledge of overall operation of athletic programs and events

  • Ability to be the Administrator on Duty for events

  • Ability to communicate and walk out your faith

  • Agreement with LCAs Statement of Faith and Statement on Marriage and Human Sexuality as stated on the school website

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Become familiar with and keep updated on all our Emergency Protocols Policies and Procedures

  • Contribute to school systems effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing directives

  • Establish and adjust objectives by following school guidelines and school goals plans policies and procedures.

  • Maintain records by documenting accordingly

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies as deemed by your supervisor

  • Embrace biblical truth strive for excellence and model Christ-like leadership

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures rules and regulations

  • Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish educational results and departmental requests/needs

  • Meet requirements for educational development related to your position certifications

  • Complete continuing education as deemed by your supervisor

  • Willingness to take developmental assessments

  • Background checks Ministry Safe Drug tests and all compliance requests

  • Attend Parent Teacher Fellowship all school Workshops

  • Attend In-service assist in set up and tear down of all school PTFs and Workshops as deemed by your supervisor
  • Support Leadership Decisions

  • Other duties as assigned by Direct Supervisor Team lead Head of School

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENTAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Regularly standing and walking around

  • Regularly sitting at the computer requiring repetitive finger motion and manual dexterity

  • Close visual acuity is required for viewing a computer monitor preparing and analyzing data and figures transcribing and reading

  • Hearing ability to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction

  • Talking and expressing ideas utilizing the spoken word to convey instructions to students parents and other workers

  • Ability to communicate effectively even in stressful situations

  • Occasional lifting of 5 to 20 pounds

  • Subject to frequent interruptions and frequent deadlines
