There is one (1) vacancy located at the Kapahulu Vehicle Reconstruction Inspection Station.
As a Motor Vehicle Control Inspector I your duties and responsibilities will include:- Performing inspectional and investigative tasks relative to the enforcement of laws rules and regulations;
- Investigating complaints pertaining to violations of the Periodic Motor Vehicle Inspection program;
- Responsibility for the licensing and conducting unannounced inspections of safety inspection stations and adjustors;
- Investigations of abandoned and derelict vehicles;
- Investigations of taxi complaints and regulate the taxi industry;
- Performing other duties and responsibilities of the position.

At the time of application you must be a citizen national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Two (2) years of experience in inspectional investigative instructional or repair work which shall have included ascertaining the overall mechanical operating and safety condition of motor vehicles.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a valid appropriate drivers license (automobile/Type 3) prior to appointment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a special police commission prior to completion of probation. During the probationary period selectees shall be fingerprinted photographed and subject to a background investigation by the Honolulu Police Department.Examination Process
