Position Information:

The Director of the Human Performance Center (HPC) is a strategic and visionary leader responsible for amplifying the Centers role in advancing NWHSUs strategic initiatives while expanding its visibility among students sports teams and professionals within the sports chiropractic and human performance communities. This role is central to driving the growth of the HPC by cultivating meaningful community and industry partnerships and delivering integrated clinical care to high-performing athletes. The Director will oversee day-to-day operations budget and staff management and clinical workflows with coordination of clinic residents and sports interns. This individual also plays an active role in recruiting new students teaching and academic programming including courses within the Sports and Rehab Emphasis within the Doctor of Chiropractic Program (DCP) and the Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine program. Additional collaboration with the Continuing Education department is expected to further expand HPCs impact.

The Director will allocate approximately 50% of their time to managing the operations and strategic growth of the Human Performance Center and 50% to teaching in the classroom and supporting academic programs.

This role will also serve as the Endowed Chair of Biomechanics and Human Performance providing academic leadership and fostering collaboration to advance the fields of biomechanics athletic performance and rehabilitation.

This is a year-round faculty position where academic rank and compensation will be determined by qualifications and experience.

Work Location: Bloomington MN with flexibility to work hybrid; must live local and be able to come to campus as needed.

Duties:

  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of academic content related to sports and human performance including sport-specific courses within the Sports and Rehabilitation Emphasis
  • Collaborate with academic programs and departments to ensure alignment and integration of rehabilitation-focused coursework within the Sports and Rehabilitation Emphasis
  • Actively participate in the education and instruction of students by teaching didactic courses related to sports chiropractic and rehabilitation.
  • Identify and develop new relationships with local regional and international sports teams athletic organizations and performance groups and maintain and strengthen existing relationships
  • Provide overall leadership and administrative oversight for the Human Performance Center (HPC).
  • Represent the HPC and NWHSU at external events conferences and professional meetings to enhance visibility and reputation
  • Collaborate with university leadership and Academic Deans to align HPC goals with broader institutional strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Admissions Team and participate in the recruitment of prospective students
  • Mentor and evaluate clinic residents and interns supporting their clinical skills professional development research and training.
  • Ensure clinical learning experiences align with program learning outcomes and competencies

What you need to have

  • Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) required
  • Masters degree in another discipline preferred
  • Active DC license in good standing in the state of MN
  • Certification in Sports Care required
  • 7 years experience in Sports Chiropractic and 5 years management experience required
  • Sports chiropractic experience working with high performing athletes
  • Teaching experience both clinically and hands on instruction
  • Registration in Athletic Training Exercise Physiology or Sports Performance preferred

Other Specialized Knowledge/Skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written verbal and presentation communication skills
  • Handles confidential information and discussions professionally
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Suite software
  • Knowledge of Acupuncture Chinese Management and Massage Therapy disciplines preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in integrated care models preferred
