Title: High School of Science and Technology Summer Co-op Coordinator

WORK SCHEDULE:

Program Schedule: Monday July 7th - Thursday July 31st from 8:00 am-1:00 pm Work Schedule: Monday July 8th - Thursday August 1st from 7:30 am-1:00 pm

SALARY: $50.00 per hour for up to 22 hours each week (4 weeks total)

Description DUTIES:

  1. Implements curriculum and instruction during the Cooperative Education Program.
  • Ensures that framework manipulative skills are combined with framework technical knowledge to perform job tasks during the co-op experience
  • Develops co-op experiences that support the transition from secondary education to post-secondary education/apprenticeships
  1. Promotes the delivery of effective instruction
  • Develops and communicates high standards and expectations when implementing Co-op education
  • Uses formal and informal assessments to measure student achievement on Co-op.
  • Conveys evaluation results to students parents/guardians
  • Completes all State co-op paperwork/forms and uses State-recommended formative employer evaluations for students
  1. Promotes Safety
  • Ensures that students have adequate training in safety and hazard issues which are practiced at the Co-op education site
  • Performs initial Co-op site safety visits as required by DESE
  • Performs regular Co-op site employer/student visits as required by DESE
  1. Promotes Equity
  • Requires all employers to adhere to non-discrimination and equal opportunity requirements
  • The Co-op experience develops students self-awareness confidence character leadership social and career values and ethics and teaches students that effort is the key to achievement.
  1. Meets Professional Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates a high level of legal and moral character
  • Abides by Child Labor Laws as they apply to co-operative education experiences
  • Develops relationships/partnerships with businesses industry and post-secondary institutions/apprenticeship programs to extend and enrich co-operative education experiences.
  • Assesses the success of the cooperative education program annually through aggregate data analyses and evaluation

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possession of a current professional Cooperative Education Coordinators license
  • Willingness to work with Sci-Tech vocational and academic teachers to provide integrated activities from the frameworks as part of the co-op experiences.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills
