PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Provide campus instructional staff with appropriate curricular support in the area of secondary math that will result in students being better able to demonstrate mastery of the state standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
Bachelors degree
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject/level assigned
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Specific knowledge of learning theory in secondary math
Strong knowledge of instruction and student assessment
Facilitation skills to effectively lead staff
Effective interpersonal skills- verbal and written in a variety of contexts
Work effectively and collaboratively teachers and administrators
Understand and follow written and/or oral directions and to exercise good judgment
Work under pressure and with flexibility
Work independently without direct guidance and supervision as well as in a team setting
Knowledge of the use of technology to manage instruction
Ability to facilitate and actively participate in professional learning communities

Minimum Experience:
At least three years of successful teaching experience as evidenced by performance evaluations
Experience in campus administration department coordinator curriculum assessment specialist or teacher leader preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Facilitate AISD Standards/Curriculum development and revision.
- Oversee the development and delivery of secondary math curriculum and instructional programs that incorporate District goals and support student achievement.
- Participate in District level decision making process to establish and review the Districts goals and objectives and major classroom instructional programs.
- Ensure that goals and objectives are developed using effective collaborative processes and problem-solving techniques.
- Monitor and reevaluate instructional programs on an ongoing basis using input from teacher and administrators applied research and student data to determine effectiveness and improve outcomes. Recommend changes and adjustments where appropriate.
- Collaborate with curriculum specialists principals teachers and other instructional staff to develop maintain and revise curriculum documents based on a systematic review and analysis.
- Keep informed of state and federal requirements instructional and assessment information rules and guidelines in order to keep district and campus leaders as well as teachers informed and in compliance.
- Assist campus instructional leaders in designing teaching/re-teaching activities to increase students ability to meet standards on STAAR and other assessments.
- Analyze district STAAR and other assessment results. Assist campuses in analyzing STAAR and other assessment results as requested. Support assessment development.
- Engage instructional staff in evaluating and selecting instructional tools and materials to meet student learning needs.
- Oversee staff development programs and provide effective activities that support instructional programs incorporate input from teachers and principals and are consistent with the districts mission.
- Keep informed of new teaching strategies and techniques and share with campus instructional leaders and with teachers as requested.
- Develop and maintain resources to support improvement strategies.
- Compile maintain and file all reports records and other documents as required.
- Develop reasonable budgets examine cost estimates and provide oversight for program accounts.
- Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with principals teachers staff parents and community members.
- Articulate the districts mission instructional philosophy and curriculum implementation strategies to the community and solicit its support in realizing districts mission.
- Facilitate textbook adoption process and serve on district Instructional Materials Committee.
- Demonstrate awareness of district-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all local policies and state and federal statutes including the Educator Code of Ethics.
- Perform such other tasks and accepts such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
