POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Dean of Students supports a positive and safe school environment by promoting student accountability managing behavior and discipline and fostering strong relationships with students staff and families. This role works closely with administrators and counselors to implement school policies support student success and contribute to a positive school culture. QUALIFICATIONS:
Secondary Teaching Certificate preferred.
Masters Degree from an institution recognized as qualified to grant such a degree and must possess or be eligible for the appropriate administrative certification preferred.
Demonstrated qualities of educational leadership.
Demonstrated ability to relate well with students.
Demonstrated interest in becoming a future building administrator and willing to make a 12-24 month commitment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in the operation of the school and is directly responsible to the principal.
Assists in working with the staff in the formulation of a philosophy of education consistent with the district-wide philosophy.
Assists the principal in providing a continuous program of curriculum improvement.
Assists with student discipline issues and parental concerns.
Assists with supervision during the school day and during co-curricular activities.
Represents HVS within the school community at school activities.
Interested in becoming a future building administrator.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Masters Degree.
LANGUAGE MATHEMATICAL AND REASONING SKILLS:Ability to speak and write to apply mathematical concepts to practical to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
