Position Overview
Lincoln Middle School is seeking a compassionate skilled and dynamic Special Education Teacher to lead a self-contained behavior support classroom. This role involves providing instruction and support to up to nine students with diverse behavioral and academic needs. The ideal candidate will be committed to creating a positive structured and flexible learning environment that fosters personal growth and academic success.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) based on ongoing assessments and student needs.
Deliver high-quality instruction using a variety of teaching strategies and materials tailored to diverse learning styles.
Employ effective behavior management techniques and integrate emotional regulation strategies throughout the school day.
Create a classroom climate that supports learning emotional development and social skill-building.
Establish strong respectful relationships with students to encourage engagement and positive behavior.
Teach and reinforce essential social skills and emotional self-regulation to support positive peer interactions.
Collaborate closely with two behavior support educational assistants to meet student needs and ensure a consistent supportive classroom environment.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records including IEP documentation and progress monitoring data.
Conduct IEP meetings and maintain ongoing communication with families and staff to ensure cohesive support for students.
Design and implement enrichment opportunities including weekly community-based outings and special programming.
Regularly assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
Build and maintain positive relationships with parents and caregivers fostering a collaborative support system.
Stay current with Oregon State Standards and align instruction accordingly.
Support a mixed-age classroom environment with differentiated instruction and support.
Qualifications
Must hold a valid Oregon Teaching License with appropriate special education endorsement.
Must be Highly Qualified under state and federal guidelines.
Experience and/or training in behavior management integrated curriculum development and inclusive instructional strategies preferred.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with a team of educators and support staff.
Strong technology skills and the ability to integrate technology into instruction.
Commitment to equity student-centered instruction and fostering a supportive inclusive classroom environment.
Salary
Compensation will be based on the candidates experience and education level in accordance with the districts current salary schedule.
