Are you a compassionate and enthusiastic individual looking to join the healthcare field If so Jefferson Healthcare invites you to apply for our Medical Assistant Apprentice Program. Our MA Apprentices are partnered with an experienced coach who will be your mentor throughout the program giving you hands-on training to prepare you for the Medical Assistant exam.
The program will begin with a mandatory virtual cohort kick-off event on July 25th 2025 and then consist of 2000 hours of in-clinic training as well as on average 10 hours a week of online classwork that includes models and quizzes.
We are seeking candidates who are eager to learn and dedicated to furthering their education while providing excellent patient care.
What youll need:
- Must be 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- A cover letter describing why you are interested in the program
- BLS certification within 30 days of hire
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Experience with technology

Schedule: 1.0 FTE 40 hours/week Day shift Monday - Friday
Program Highlights:
- 18-month program
- 2000 hours of on-the-job training
- 410 hours of supplemental online coursework
- Attend 3 in-person lab days (requires travel)
- Meet all Apprentice Expectations as outlined in the syllabus
- Pay is a set wage of $23.00/hr for the first 1000 hours then $24.00/hr for 1001-2000 hours.

Day in the life of a Certified Medical Assistant
- Greats patients and escorts them to the exam room
- Take patients vital signs in preparation for appointment
- Documents in our Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Anticipates needs of the Provider to maintain efficient patient flow
- Performs phlebotomy and laboratory procedures as directed by the Provider
- Performs and documents injections and immunizations
- Ensures exam rooms are clean stocked and ready for patients
- Assists Providers with procedures exams and patient education
- Manages appropriate patient referrals and required documentation
- Observes and follows required safety protocols including handling and disposal of sharps use of personal protective equipment exposure to blood borne pathogens and general safety of employees and patients.
- Supports care team members
- Orders medication refills within scope of practice as directed by the Provider
