Solutions Director Managed Legal Services

Birmingham London or Manchester

Role Overview

Vario is a market leading alternative legal services provider within the law firm Pinsent Masons. It is unique in the legal sector. Vario is a practice group within Pinsent Masons which incorporates; Flexible Services Consulting and Technology Legal Project Management and Managed Legal Services (MLS).

Our Managed Legal Services (MLS) team is transitioning from start-up to a scale-up alternative legal services business. The MLS team is split between Birmingham London Manchester Glasgow and Amsterdam. The MLS team provides robust right-sourced solutions for busy in-house teams to help them do more better. These services can support routine day-today legal work or to assist with specific projects offering flexibility and scalability to meet the varying needs of a business.

The MLS Solutions team provides sales and business development support for the MLS teams primarily in the UK and coordinating across our global capabilities.

The Solutions Director role is a senior leadership role responsible for the go to market strategy approach and direction of the Managed Legal Services business in Vario. They will be responsible for Vario-wide business generation and client development and engagement with a particular focus on the Managed Legal Services team.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading sales and business development activity for MLS and collaborating closely with the Consulting team on their business development activities
  • Developing a pipeline of potential new clients to support the growth objectives of the whole Vario group by way of first line engagement
  • Providing second line engagement for MLS sales and business development leads generated elsewhere
  • Developing relationships with existing Vario and Pinsent Masons clients to identify and leverage new business opportunities
  • Ensuring all client activity is up to date and shared with internal stakeholders
  • Developing and implementing KPIs for the team
  • Engaging in pricing bid preparation and contract negotiations
  • Collaborating with Flexible Services and global MLS teams to ensure consistency in the global approach and to leverage our full capabilities
  • Collaborating with the wider Vario group to develop a client relationship management and development approach aligned to Pinsent Masons sectors
  • Overseeing the MLS marketing approach to support client engagement initiatives and collaborating with the central Marketing team
  • Line managing members of the MLS Solutions team

Our standard working hours are 9.30am-5.30pm however we are happy to consider flexible working requests.

Candidate Overview

We are looking for candidates who ideally hold the following skills and experience:

  • Significant business development and/or solutions experience
  • Experience of working in a professional services and/or alternative legal services environment
  • Knowledge of managed legal services
  • Experience of client development and a strong track record of growing existing and new business
  • Experience of managing empowering and developing teams both in person and virtually
