JOB SUMMARY:
The Production Planner I is responsible for scheduling and coordinating the efficient production of finished goods to meet customer demand. This role supports production planning activities by reviewing and adjusting inventory levels as needed working with other departments to ensure customer satisfaction and maintaining accurate inventory records. Additionally the Production Planner I helps analyze product demand trends and forecasts making recommendations to adjust inventory plans accordingly.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in tracking and updating production schedules to ensure timely order fulfillment.
Coordinates the flow of materials according to production schedules.
Reviews production based on direction from the Forecast Team.
Helps identify and resolve minor production or inventory issues to maintain efficiency.
Coordinates shipments with the supply chain group based on production needs lead times and inventory levels.
Reviews inventory levels against production schedules and reports findings.
Communicates with purchasing and the supply chain on component and finished good requirements.
Assists in developing staffing plans based on future production requirements.
Analyzes daily shortages in inventory against customer orders.
Supports the creation and implementation of corrective actions to minimize cancellations and improve fill rates.
Applies best practices in inventory and supply planning to minimize cancellations.
Contributes to continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production scheduling and inventory management.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors Degree in business supply chain management logistics or a related field is required; equivalent cumulative work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
Minimum of 0-2 years of experience in production and planning or a related field is preferred
Basic computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
Previous ERP experience is a plus
Strong multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
Excellent problem-solving capabilities
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Intermediate math and analytical skills
Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple departments to achieve business goals
Adaptability in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
Basic knowledge of supply chain manufacturing or inventory management processes is preferred
Experience with data analysis and reporting tools is a plus
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to withstand prolonged periods sitting at a desk
Frequent use of upper extremities to perform keyboard functions and work on a computer
Ability to frequently stand/walk
