Job Description

Secondment/fixed term opportunityfor 12 months with possibility of extension

Do you have a genuine interest in supporting people to rebuild their lives

We are currently looking for a Custody and Probation HAWk worker to be based in a Prison Establishment and Probation Delivery Unit (PDU). To support The Probation Services objective in reducing reoffending by preventing and ending homelessness.

In this role you will;

  • Support clients with their move-on from MOJ provided CAS temporary properties into appropriate settled accommodation.
  • Assess clients housing needs and take action to prevent homelessness from CAS properties by supporting clients to explore their housing options and to access appropriate accommodation.
  • Monitor and manage case loads through the case monitoring systems
  • Respond to new referrals in accordance with contractual timeframes
  • Record all activity undertaken and outcome on the case monitoring systems and liaise regularly with the referring Probation Practitioner
  • Support clients with housing application processes to suitable housing providers including social housing charitable housing provision and private providers.

About you

As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate;

  • A passion in working with ex-offenders and people who are homeless/at risk of becoming homeless
  • The ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary multi-agency team within the prison and probation environment and to maintain effective relationships with external agencies.
  • The ability to work flexibly in a changing and often challenging environment
  • The ability to work to agreed deadlines and targets.
  • The ability to cope with clients with multiple needs who may display challenging behaviour
  • The skills to accurately report and record progress of work in a timebound fashion in line with the contract requirements.
