The Drug & Alcohol Impaired Driving (DAID) Program Regional Coordinator within the NC Forensic Tests for Alcohol (FTA) Branch is vital in combating impaired driving. This position covers a region including Alexander Cabarrus Caldwell Catawba Gaston Iredell Lincoln Mecklenburg Stanly Union counties. The DAID Program Regional Coordinator develops and delivers training programs such as Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) Alcohol Screening Test Devices (ASTDs) and Operator and Recertification Courses in evidential breath alcohol testing to law enforcement officers ensuring content is current with laws and best practices. The position also involves maintaining and conducting preventive maintenance on breath alcohol test instruments alcohol screening test devices managing supplies and ensuring compliance with state and agency regulations. Responsibilities include conducting audits inspections and addressing non-compliance issues along with supervising and providing support for at least one employee.
Collaboration with local regional and state law enforcement agencies is crucial for effective enforcement strategies. The DAID Program Regional Coordinator participates in statewide meetings and initiatives providing support beyond their assigned area as needed. Administrative duties include maintaining training records equipment maintenance logs and preparing reports for the FTA Branch Management and partner agencies. This position demands extensive travel within the region and occasionally statewide with flexibility in working hours. This position description is broad and the supervisor may delegate and assign other duties to the position as needed to meet the needs of the Branch.

Qualified applicants must possess and application must clearly reflect work experience that demonstrates the following:
Experience as an instructor in law enforcement military or another similar environment.
Experience in enforcement of motor vehicle laws and rules and regulations related to impaired driving as a law enforcement officer in a civilian or military law enforcement agency or as an instructor in an evidential breath alcohol testing program.
Experience using breath alcohol testing instruments.
Demonstrated experience supervising staff in a related program.
Management Preferences (if applicable)
Experience working independently while utilizing own judgment in determining direction.
Making ethical and professional decisions that reflect positively on the organization/agency.
Experience as a Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Instructor
Advanced training and experience in evidential breath alcohol testing
NC DHHS Permit to Perform Chemical Analyses of Breath
NC DHHS Certificate to Perform Preventive Maintenance
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation:
Valid NC Driver License.
NC DHHS Permit to Perform Chemical Analyses of Breath must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
NC DHHS Certificate to Perform Preventive Maintenance must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
Alcohol Screening Test Device Instructor Certification within 120 days of hire.
Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Instructor within 180 days of hire.
Physical Requirements (if applicable)
Lift 50 pounds.
Load and unload cargo van.
Load-in and load-out equipment at training and test sites.
Operate and drive a cargo van long and short distances.
