Position Summary:
The Inside Sales Engineer plays a critical and strategic role in enabling Tacos commercial sales success by delivering accurate timely and technically sound support across the Commercial Pumps and Accessories product lines. This role leads to the development of custom quotations for newly configured products and non-standard engineered-to-order products ensuring correct product selection pricing integrity and alignment with engineering and manufacturing capabilities.
Serving as a liaison between Sales Engineering Product Management and external stakeholdersincluding Taco Representatives Supply Chain Area Sales Directors and Account Managersthis position ensures seamless pre-sale experience that drives customer satisfaction and business growth. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented technically savvy and thrives in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
Measures of success:
- PVR Resolution Efficiency: Timely and accurate resolution of Parts/Price Verification Requests (PVRs)
- Stakeholder Satisfaction: Positive feedback from internal teams reps and partners
- Process Improvement: Contributions to quoting tools workflows and product data integrity
Responsibilities:
- Develops and delivers accurate custom quotes for modified and specialty products in collaboration with Supply Chain suppliers engineers and Area Sales Directors ensuring timely and effective solutions for product categories such as Special Motors Drives and Custom Pumps.
- Acts as a key technical resource for product configuration pricing and selection guidance supporting engineered-to-order solutions and modified standards while ensuring quoting consistency.
- Develops and presents alternative solutions to optimize lead times and ensure alignment with project requirements and deadlines.
- Addresses and resolves Parts/Price Verification Requests (PVRs) through BuyTaco managing model number discrepancies and undefined pricing scenarios to ensure accurate and timely processing.
- Collects validates and maintains product cost and lead time data in partnership with Product Management Engineering and Supply Chain teams driving accurate and reliable pricing strategies.
- Collaborates across departments to identify and resolve errors in product setup documentation and marketing materials ensuring consistency and accuracy in all product-related channels.
- Proactively resolves pricing selection and documentation issues providing fast and effective solutions while minimizing escalation and ensuring seamless order processing.
- Contributes to continuous improvement by suggesting enhancements to quoting tools workflows and internal processes to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in engineering construction or related field with significant work experience required
- 5 years of HVAC related product application or sales engineering experience required
- 2 years of experience in Supply Chain quoting cost analysis or purchasing within a manufacturing or technical environment preferred
- Experience with pumps motors (including general-purpose motors) or control systems is preferred
- Experience in customer-facing technical support is a plus
- Proficient in quoting software and the Microsoft Office Suite including advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting
- Experience in ERP systems a plus
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability and a keen eye for detail ensuring accuracy in quotations configurations and documentation
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineering sales supply chain and marketing teams to drive results
- Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Strong project management skills capable of managing multiple tasks meeting deadlines and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment.
- Leadership and organizational skills with the ability to drive results and work within a collaborative team-oriented culture
- Exceptional customer service skills with a proactive solutions-oriented approach to inquiries and issue resolution
Work Environment
This position works primarily in an office environment using computers and technology. Verbal and auditory capability are required. Occasional exposure in production plant where large equipment and noise are prevalent. Safety gear is required in these areas.
This position may work from home up to 2X/week if performance is in good standing.
This position has no direct reports.
