The High School Guidance Counselor Academic Advisement & Testing Coordinator is a vital member of the student support team responsible for guiding students through academic planning college and career readiness and coordinating all aspects of standardized testing within the school. This role supports student achievement by ensuring access to rigorous academic pathways and maintaining an organized equitable testing environment.
Provide academic counseling to students regarding course selection graduation requirements and post-secondary planning.
Monitor student academic progress and collaborate with teachers families and support staff to create intervention plans when needed.
Facilitate the development and maintenance of four-year academic plans for all students.
Support students in identifying academic and career goals and align coursework to those goals.
Conduct group and individual advisement sessions including support for dual enrollment ACT and pre-ACT.
Plan schedule and coordinate all state and national standardized testing ( state-mandated assessments).
Ensure compliance with testing regulations accommodations security protocols and deadlines.
Train and support staff involved in test administration and proctoring.
Maintain accurate testing records and report results as required to district state and national agencies.
Analyze assessment data to support school improvement planning and inform instructional decisions.
Collaborate with school administrators and counseling team to support overall student wellbeing.
Participate in professional development to remain current on academic counseling practices and assessment protocols.
Assist with student orientation parent meetings and transition planning between grade levels.
Promote equity and access to rigorous coursework for all students including underrepresented groups.
Masters degree in School Counseling or related field required.
Valid state certification/licensure as a School Counselor.
Experience in academic advising and familiarity with graduation requirements college entrance planning and testing procedures.
Strong organizational communication and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with student information systems and data analysis tools.
Experience coordinating large-scale assessments in a school setting.
Knowledge of state and national testing regulations and accommodations (e.g. IEP/504 plans).
Bilingual(Spanish) a plus.
School setting with frequent interactions with students families teachers and administrators.
Requires flexibility during peak testing windows and advising periods.
