GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION

The Assistant Tennis Coach is responsible for helping to build recruit and maintain a competitive Mens and Womens Tennis programs on the Raymond Campus consistent with all of the goals of Hinds Community College and the policies and procedures outlined in the Athletic Department Handbook.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Education: Associates required; Bachelors and Masters degree preferred

Experience: 1-2 years of competitive coaching experience

Certificate/License: Familiar with MACCC and NJCAA governing rules

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES not limited to the following but may include:

Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues legislation and best practices.

  • Represent Hinds Community College and the Athletic Department in a positive manner with a high degree of integrity and quality.
  • Adheres to and enforces all policies and procedures of the department and the college as well as the rules and regulations of the NJCAA and MACCC.
  • Assist with all aspects of the tennis programs; provides opportunities that challenge and support student-athletes to reach their full potential.
  • Assist with the organization and administration of the tennis program including but not limited to the following: recruiting practice and game coaching conditioning academic monitoring and public relations.
  • Assist the head coach with recruiting plans and recruiting of potential student-athletes to the program.
  • Assist the head coach in the scouting of opponents and in preparation of game and practice plans.
  • Assist in monitoring all strength and conditioning activities for the program.
  • Monitor all academics for student-athletes.
  • Perform other appropriate duties as assigned by the Head Tennis Coach and/or Director of Athletics that relates to the success of the program.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or the Athletic Director

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and the employee is occasionally required to perform job responsibilities in the outdoors and off site.
