Job Description

Job Title: JROTC Supply and Operations Foreman

Location: Teacher Administrative Center (TAC)

Reports To: Director of Army Instruction (JROTC Teaching and Learning Consultant)

Work Schedule/FLSA Status: 12 month / Exempt.

Salary Schedule: As outlined in applicable agreement

Position Purpose:

Provide the Military Science Department with a variety of specialized duties in support of the Junior ROTC program. Property Book Custodian and accountable for all government equipment in the program. Ensures government issued equipment is accounted for and maintained at schools in order to support the JROTC students and programs. Ensures specialized databases and records are updated in the schools and provides guidance and direction as necessary for instructors. Works closely with others to ensure compliance with financial logistical and reporting requirements. Other duties as required.

Essential Performance Responsibilities

  • Minimum of bachelors degree
  • Minimum of five years successful experience as an instructor in the JROTC program
  • Master Instructor or ability to become Master Instructor for CMP Marksmanship program
  • Must complete and graduate from Logistics Course from USACC
  • Must have extensive logistical experience including certification with Cadet Command
  • Extensive computer and database knowledge is essential
  • Approval from United States Army Cadet Command.
  • Staff Sergeant (SSG) or higher.
  • Retired from the Army for less than three years current JROTC instructor OR if still active duty must have retirement orders and within six months of retirement orterminal leave date.
  • Experience in supply administration drill and ceremonies.
  • Experience teaching or working with youth groups preferred.
  • A demonstrated philosophy that all students can and will learn.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Excellent communication skills oral and written.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the JROTC Classroom.
  • Positive interpersonal skills.
  • Evidence of the willingness and the ability to comply with the standards for ethical and professional performance established by the State Board of Education.
  • This individual will exhibit skills pertinent to foster positive human relationships and the ability to work effectively with students staff parents and the community.
  • A willingness and demonstrated abilities conducive to a continuous quest for quality education.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds (US Army Requirement)
  • Ability to deliever supplies throughout the distirct dury duty hours

Responsibilities:

  • Requisition receive store issue and account for military equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains a variety of records and specialized database systems for the same.
  • Monitors and complies with both school and military budgets.
  • Ensures property accountability and sufficient equipment is maintained at all high schools.
  • Responsible for Instructor Management function coordination with US Army Cadet Command.
  • Maintains and provides expert guidance to instructors on various databases required by US Army Cadet Command.
  • Must be fully qualified in and SME on JROTC curriculum.
  • Master Instructor for the JROTC Marksmanship Program.
  • Insures required instructor training is attended.
  • Subject matter expert on various database systems for the government.
  • Responsible for preparation and issuance of government contracts
  • Administers and ensures compliance with government contracts.
  • Coordinates and works closely with District financial staff on Minimum Instructor Payments.
  • Engaging in professional growth activities through an ongoing program of job-related knowledge and skill development.
  • Working collaboratively to achieve the overall purpose of the schools program and support the Districts vision aims and goals.
  • Integrating of the themes of leadership technology and communication with a diverse population.
  • Working with and understanding a diverse student population
  • Establishing a cooperative relationships with all stakeholders
  • Maintaining open lines of communication with parents/ guardians/ staff.

Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the board of education through the Superintendent of Schools or the Trustees.

Equipment: This position may require the ability to use basic office equipment such as computers copiers scanners and fax machine. Must always comply with OPSs guidelines for equipment use.

Travel: Limited travel between schools and central offices will be required. Occasional travel outside of Omaha or Nebraska may be required.

Physical and Mental Demands Work Hazards:

  • Must be able to respond rapidly in emergency situations.
  • Must have organization time management communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Work in school building environments.

Interrelations:

  • Contact with personnel within the district and with customers and vendors.
  • Will be working under the direct supervision of the department supervisor in order to complete day to day tasks.
  • Will be working with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Must understand and respond appropriately to customer needs and maintain a positive attitude with all customers and colleagues.
  • Expected to interact with all internal and external customers in a friendly professional manner and provide quick responsive customer service.

Employee Punctuality and Appearance

  • In order for schools to operate effectively employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday unless the employee has received approved leave.
  • Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employees supervisor or building administrator.
  • All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of Omaha Public Schools and is appropriate for their position.
  • Regular attendance is important.

Terms of Employment

This position is treated as a full-time exempt certified position. The terms of your employment will be governed by applicable state laws regulating employment or teaching in a Nebraska public school and Board of Education policies as those laws and policies may change from time to time and the Teacher Contract. If your position is represented by a collective bargaining representative then your employment will also be governed by a negotiated agreement between OPS and that collective bargaining representative.

Terms of employment are contingent upon:

  • Verification of a valid Nebraska Teaching License or other required license.
  • A background check which demonstrates background is acceptable for the position sought and working with or around students.
  • Verification of U.S. Citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Successful completion of a tuberculosis skin test (if required by federal law for your position).
  • Execution and delivery to OPS of a Teacher Contract presented by OPS.
