Job Description

Our Rare Earths deposit in Mt Weld Western Australia is acknowledged as one of the highest-grade Rare Earths mine in the world and the Kalgoorlie REPF is a key strategic platform for critical mineral production blending pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical processes in an Australian first mineral processing plant. We also operate the worlds largest single Rare Earths processing facility in Malaysia so you are joining a unique team! As a team member you will be contributing to the sustainable supply of rare earths metals which are used in oil & gas electric vehicles and wind turbines.

The Role:

We have an opportunity for experienced Lead Electrical Project Engineer wanting to join Lynas on our journey. Reporting to the WA Engineering & Construction Manager you will be responsible for the design engineering and execution of emergent as well as sustaining capital projects across the sites working in collaboration with the PMO Engineering Procurement and Site Management Teams.

This is a Perth based role supporting projects at both the Mt Weld Concentrator Plant (including the Expansion Project) as well as the Kalgoorlie REPF. Frequent travel to both sites will be required with the engineer responsible for the delivery and outcomes of the assignments as required.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Project Engineering Project Management and Site Construction Management.
  • Management of Multidiscipline Engineering and Construction Projects (Management of the project and contracts).
  • Primarily focused on Electrical Contractor Supervision and interfaces with Engineering Operations and Maintenance
  • Progressively manage Electrical Contractor performance schedule and compliance
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope identify potential crises and devise contingency plans.
  • Ensure works performed by Contractors are conducted safely in accordance with the HSE and Construction Management Plans and Procedures.
  • Electrical Technical expertise and interpretation of design intent
  • Develop/review contractor work method statements works procedures and ITPs for specific works.
  • Managing Progress Claims Approvals QA/QC safety and quality documents completions and commissioning permits and reporting.
  • Track project milestones and deliverables
  • Management of Change and Compliance

What we are looking for:

  • Engineering degree and membership to a professional association (preferred).
  • Previous experience on construction sites within Australia and/or for Australian Engineering or Construction firms delivering $10m or greater packages.
  • Specialist level knowledge with electrical systems including switch room HV & LV equipment electrical distribution and load management with a good knowledge of process control instrumentation control systems and automation being useful.
  • Experienced and competent with installation maintenance commissioning and regulatory requirements including Hazardous Areas.
  • Experienced with electrical specification and selection of equipment and packages for Mechanical Electrical Instrument Control Systems Communications and Process (valves filters pumps and materials).
  • Experience working in construction and remediation of minerals processing raw materials handling facilities is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Client-side project engineering / project management of site project execution commissioning and operational handover comfortable working with trades and professionals alike.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as within a team environment
  • Management of project quality including frequent inspections.
  • Have a methodical and organised approach to work.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills for interacting with stakeholders contractors and team members
  • High level of dedication creating a proactive productive culture
  • Able to work independently driven towards completing the functional and performance requirements of establishing a Minerals Processing Facility.
  • Ability to prioritize and deliver project outcomes to timelines and under pressure.
  • Computer literacy with respect to skill in MS Projects Completions Systems Excel Word & PowerPoint and Computerised Document Management Systems
