Job Description

Reports To: General Director of Cultural Innovation

Position Purpose: EL Instructional Coaches are student-centered and facilitate learning-focused conversations with teachers based on data and effective instructional and assessment strategies. The main duties for EL Coaches are to help teachers set goals resulting in student growth and to design and provide professional development.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three years of successful teaching experience
  • Having demonstrated success as a classroom teacher
  • Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) licensure
  • ESOL endorsement
  • Knowledge of state and local KSDE curriculum standards
  • Demonstrated success of building a strong rapport with culturally and linguistically diverse students
  • Strong team building along with good communication consultation and listening skills
  • Problem solving and organizational skills will be necessary to effectively facilitate coaching and professional development

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Plan/Provide professional development opportunities district-wide.
  • Consult with classroom teachers.
  • Analyze students work.
  • Model lessons.
  • Co-plan and/or co-teach lessons.
  • Assist with program planning.
  • Assist with the coordination and supervision of state EL assessments.
  • Assist in the selection and approval of professional materials supplies and equipment.

Physical/Emotional Requirements:

The incumbent may be required to use the following skills and abilities during any part of the working day:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to walk sit talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to interact with staff and to meet demands from several people.

Terms of Employment:

Teacher contract plus an addendum for 10 additional days; salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education and per the Negotiated Agreement.

Evaluation:

Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board policy on evaluation of Certified Personnel.

The performance responsibilities are not limited to those outlined in this description and may include any other responsibilities as assigned by the administrator/supervisor.
