From inspecting compliance at festivals in Cornwall the Countys Taxi fleet or Caravan sites to ensuring animal breeders and Zoos are compliant with their licenses and standards Licensing Compliance impacts can be seen across the county. As a Licensing Compliance Officer in Cornwall you will be making a difference to both the residents and visitors to Cornwall.
Whilst you are likely to be asked initially to focus on one area of Licensing compliance work there is both scope for and a desire for multi-skilling across multiple/all areas over time.
You will be expected to represent the service at either/both committee hearings / in court as appropriate to an enforcement role.
This is a public/customer-facing role where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.
Working Pattern:
Whilst the bulk of the work is normal office hours given the nature of the role and the needs of the service there may be a requirement for occasional work on evenings and weekends.
What youll need to succeed:
The ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team
A proven track record of investigatory/compliance work ideally in a licensing field
Good communication skills eye for detail and problem-solving skills
A knowledge and understanding of interpreting legislation.
A positive attitude and a desire to learn new skills
An investigatory/analytical mindset/ability to see both sides of an issue and take an impartial stance/position whilst investigating.
Report writing skills/statement writing.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft software packages.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions well as within an office environment.
