Job Description

Job Title: HR Generalist – Manager
Experience: 8 Years
Location: Chennai
Industry: Construction / Infrastructure
Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic HR Generalist (Manager level) to lead and manage HR operations in a fast-paced construction environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in statutory compliance labour law management and HR generalist functions with a solid understanding of HR practices in the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure 100% compliance with all applicable Factory Acts Labour Laws and state/central statutory regulations.

  • Manage end-to-end statutory audits inspections and liaison with government bodies (Factories Inspectorate Labour Department PF/ESI authorities etc.).

  • Oversee and manage PF ESI Gratuity Bonus Minimum Wages Shops & Establishments Act Contract Labour Regulation and Abolition Act (CLRA) etc.

  • Maintain statutory records registers returns and timely submission of reports and filings.

  • Collaborate with site HR/admin teams to ensure labour contractor compliance and workforce welfare standards.

  • Lead core HR generalist activities including employee relations grievance handling onboarding offboarding HR policy implementation and training initiatives.

  • Drive HR policy compliance process improvement and audit readiness across all construction project sites.

  • Act as a liaison between corporate HR and project sites ensuring consistency in HR operations and compliance standards.

  • Manage vendor/contractor HR documentation and ensure adherence to internal and legal requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree (minimum); MBA in HR or equivalent is preferred.

  • 8 years of progressive HR experience with a minimum of 3 years in a compliance-focused HR role within the construction or manufacturing industry.

  • In-depth knowledge of labour laws factory regulations and contract labour management.

  • Hands-on experience with labour law portals statutory software/tools (like Shram Suvidha EPFO portal ESIC portal etc.).

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with site-level teams and senior management.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English Hindi

  • Proven experience in managing external audits and legal inspections confidently.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in a multi-site construction environment.

  • Certification in labour law or industrial relations is a plus.

  • Familiarity with HRMS and digital compliance systems.
