At least two years of study (60 semester hours) at an accredited institution of higher education; or
An associates degree (or higher); or
An approved state or local academic assessment that measures the paraprofessionals knowledge of and ability to assist in instruction at the appropriate level. Paraprofessionals may meet the assessment requirement by passing theParaPro Assessment(). The minimum passing score on this test is 456. One of the three options listed is required within six months of employment.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Experience working with students struggling with behaviors and knowledge of behavioral intervention and strategies
Demonstrated success motivating students who have had limited success
Experience or background in counseling or similar field
Knowledgeable of effective remediation
Knowledgeable of computer technology and its application to instruction
Skill in interpersonal relations with pupils parents teachers staff and the general public
Outstanding references from current and former supervisors
Satisfactory SLED (SC Law Enforcement Division) report

Length of Contract: 185 days/7 hours per day
